WHAT IS THE MORAVIAN BRASS FESTIVAL?
Every two years, 200 to 300 brass players from the Moravian Church in Europe gather to make music together. This gathering will take place in Gnadau on Pentecost 2027. It will be a global gathering, as musicians from South Africa and the U.S. will also be participating this time, in addition to choirs from Europe. The trombones, horns, tubas, and trumpets will then fill the town and its surroundings with life.

For Gnadau 2027, in addition to rehearsals and workshops for the musicians, a public concert is planned for Pentecost Sunday in Gnadau and an ecumenical service on Pentecost Monday in the Schönebeck-Salzelmen spa park.
WHO IS THE MORAVIAN CHURCH?
The Evangelical Moravian Church/Herrnhut Moravian Church (known as the “Herrnhuters” for short) is a Protestant free church that governs its own affairs independently in accordance with its church constitution. It is recognized as a public-law corporation and is very active in ecumenical efforts (for example, it is a member of the WCC and the ACK, is affiliated with the EKD, and holds guest membership in the VEF).
It is known to the public for the Herrnhut Star, the daily devotional sayings, and its founder, Count Zinzendorf.
WHERE IS GNADAU?
Gnadau is a village of 500 residents south of Magdeburg, located in the triangle formed by Schönebeck, Barby, and Calbe. The village was founded in 1767 by the Moravian Church. With its square layout, parks, and design elements deliberately inspired by Christian symbolism, Gnadau exhibits the typical characteristics of a Baroque planned settlement. Due to its uniqueness, the entire town center is designated as a historic landmark. For a long time, the town was characterized by a wide range of educational and vocational training opportunities. Even today, the town is home to a daycare center and an elementary school (Zinzendorfschule Gnadau).
